Last week I participated in Holmes CTF 2025 (the first blue CTF hosted by Hack The Box — cool people). I went solo, though I could not spend as much time as I wanted due to schedule conflicts, but I had fun and learned a lot about DFIR (I think so…).
Anyway, I still wanted to finish it and was able to crack it over the weekend. I also saw how fast the top teams were able to breathe through all five challenges under 2.5 hours into the competition (we were given five days btw 😇), and that basically sealed the top scorers. This took me on and off several days. One of my friends is on a team that placed in the top 15 tho. So that reassure me the challenges are doable, still a journey for me to get through them one by one.
